Keremet Bank’s Specialist is the winner of the Altyn Kalem competition!
Tashtanbek Chakiev, the Lead Kyrgyz Language Specialist of “Keremet Bank” OJSC, has won the Republican Competition “Altyn Kalem” organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic together with the Writers’ Union of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Awards Ceremony took place on December 12, 2023 at the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic named after. A. Osmonov on the National Literature Day.
The National Literature Day was established in 2011 in memory of the Kyrgyzstan’s outstanding literati: Writer Chingiz Aitmatov and Poet Alykul Osmonov. In honor of the 95th anniversary of the famous prose writer, a ceremonial event was held on December 12 at the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz National Philharmonic, and then the festivities continued at the National Library, where statuettes and diplomas of the Altyn Kalem Competition awards were presented.
The Competition was held in various nominated categories: “Prose”, “Poetry”, “Dramaturgy”, “Criticism” and so on. Tashtanbek Chakiev was recognized as the best in the nominated category “Literary Translation” for his translation into Kyrgyz of the collection of short stories by the outstanding Japanese Writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
It should be noted that the Kyrgyz Republic supports the country's creative unions and allocates annually funds, thanks to which the Writers' Union of the Kyrgyz Republic publishes books. Using these funds, the publications of the winners of the Altyn Kalem Competition 2023 will be published, including translations by Tashtanbek Chakiev of the world-favorite stories “The Gates of Rashomon”, “In the Thicket” and others.
Previously, Tashtanbek Chakiev was awarded the International Prize “Golden Pen of Rus'”, established by the Writers' Union of Russia and the creative unions of the Russian Federation.
