Information on the National Payment System Cards “Elcart”

17 January 2024

Dear Customers,

In order to develop later non-cash payments, as well as to improve security and to simplify transactions, the Interbank Processing Center has ceased issuing the magnetic cards of the National Payment System (NPS) Elkart from January 1, 2024, considering it expedient to support the use of NFC technology-based contactless cards.

The near field communication (NFC) is a technology for contactless data exchange between the special reading terminal and the payment card at a distance of up to 10 cm without the risk of data loss or interception: card number data is used in encrypted form and is not transmitted anywhere.

You can contact Keremet Bank to receive the NFC card, which, as compared to the magnetic card, has a number some advantages when paying at cash desks of retail and service establishments and in transport. More detailed information about the Bank’s rates for using cards can be found in the “Cards” Section of the official website.

The NPS magnetic cards “Elcart” previously issued by Keremet Bank can be used until the end of their validity period; after its expiration, they must be exchanged for the NFC contactless cards “Elcart”.
