Keremet Bank started servicing UnionPay International contactless cards
Keremet Bank, recognized in the Kyrgyz Republic as one of the best banks in terms of the number of banking devices, began to serve contactless cards of the popular international payment system - UnionPay International in its ATMs.
Keremet Bank, as one of the first UPI partners in Kyrgyzstan, has been actively working for several years to increase the population's access to modern solutions for cardholders in all regions of the country.
In Kyrgyzstan, a significant proportion of rural residents from remote and high mountain areas were denied access to banking services. To solve this problem, the bank in a short time implemented a large-scale and unaffordable project for many local financial and credit institutions of the country to deliver, install, connect and maintain 100 ATMs with contactless readers in the most inaccessible regions of the country: 19 in Batken, 17 in Jalal -Abad and Osh regions, 13 - in Issyk-Kul and Chui, 12 - in Naryn and 9 - in Talas.
- Not every bank in Kyrgyzstan is capable of such a step due to the high cost of ATMs and software, low infrastructure development in the regions, high cost of maintaining devices, as well as difficulties with their collection. “Keremet Bank” has successfully implemented this project, and today the bank's ATM network has more than 250 devices throughout the country, and the plans are to further expand the network.
