Keremet Bank appeals to cardholders of all banks of Kyrgyzstan to be more vigilant

3 February 2022

Recently, fraudsters have become more active in many countries, trying to fraudulently withdraw funds from payment cards of both international payment systems and the national Elkart payment system. In Kyrgyzstan, lawbreakers have created a stable scheme of stealing money from sellers of goods on the Internet through popular online sales sites, most often through the Lalafo classifieds site.

False buyers offer sellers to immediately pay for their goods by transfer to the card and ask them to tell them its number. Then they contact the seller again, informing them that the minimum amount from the card account was blocked for verification and asking to tell them the exact amount. As a result, fraudsters use the information obtained for the subsequent withdrawal of money from the card.

The Bank warns clients that IN NO CASE should you:

  • share confidential information about your card with third parties, including taking photos of it (number, card account, CVV, PIN code, card expiration date);
  • perform any operations at the request of callers, even if they are introduced themselves as bank employees with a request to confirm, recheck or perform any operations on your card account;
  • follow links sent by e-mail, through messages in messengers, in chats, and social networks from strangers, and to no one, without transferring your personal and card data.

If a suspicious transfer offer is still received and you are asked to provide your card details or any other information, please contact the official representatives of the bank that issued the card for rechecking.

In Keremet Bank, you can always contact the call center by phone (0 312) 55 44 44, via WhatsApp (0 557) 55 44 44, via the feedback form on the website, or by e-mail call-center@kermetbank.kg.
