We are proud of the employees of Keremet Bank: Chakiev Tashtanbek is the best interpreter of 2021!
Chakiev Tashtanbek, a former university teacher and now a specialist in Kyrgyz language at "Keremet Bank" was honored for translating into the state language the cycle of stories named "Dark Alleys" ("Karangi Alleyalar") by Nobel Prize winner Ivan Bunin. Recently at the National Writers Union of the Kyrgyz Republic, Tashtanbek Temirbekovich was awarded a diploma and award statuette for "The Best Book of 2021" in the Translation category.
Before the award, few would have guessed that in his spare time our colleague enjoys translating works of world poetry, science and fiction into Kyrgyz. According to the translator, his choice of "Dark Alleys" was made for a reason: it is one of the most popular books about love, and Bunin - the great modern master of literary style. Tashtanbek Temirbekovich devoted seven years of his life to this work, and in between he found time and translated "Man in a Case" by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, a series of scientific materials about the Alay queen Kurmanjan Datka, fascinating stories of the classic of Japanese literature Ryunosuke Akutagawa "In the thicket", "The Rashomon Gate" and other works.
Translation is not an easy craft: you have to convey the author's intention, preserve the style of the text, capture the images and adapt them for the understanding of the Kyrgyz-speaking reader. In essence, a translator writes a work from scratch, combining not only a connoisseur of two languages, but also a historian, a cultural historian, a geographer and even a scientific researcher. And thanks to the talent and diligence of our colleague, our contemporaries have the opportunity to open up new worlds and themselves, becoming intellectually enriched and growing.
We wish Chakiev Tashtanbek Temirbekovich inspiration, we are proud of his successes and we believe that our country will have a great and bright future with such gifted and active Kyrgyz citizens!
